February 20th, 2010 White Slide Event Austria
Jörg, Mario, Johnny and Katrin were at the White Slide Event in Austria yesterday. A race on a sled slope down from 1600m to 1050m on snow and ice. Lots of fun and a great atmosphere at the race, a perfect start into a 2010 season! Jörg had a good run and finished as 5th... with a crash. Johnny and Mario had some more crashes and did finish as 29th and 40th but still had a lot of fun! Katrin did not have the chance for a single practice run due to a massive traffic jam but finished as 6th, doin her race run as first and last run on this day!

January 25th 2010 La Palma Impressions

Words by Tobias Woggon on Last Herb FR:
Looking out of my office-window today, everything is grey and dull. Just some days ago I was looking out seeing the sun, blue sky, beach and sea. A few days before christmas I was on my way to La Palma with two friends for riding the new last freerider and taking some pictures. Unbelievebale but true, the bad weather around the atlantic lead to 3 days unintended break on an island next to La Palma. After 3 days of being shooed around, getting on the plane and off again several times a day, we could finally get on the ship on dec. 24. The troubled sea was not easy to drive on and so not only I felt sick, several people also had to throw up. Merry X-Mess. We finally arrived on dec. 25 and were looking forward to four weeks of biking across one of the most varied islands. The trails curled through virgin forests, where at every blow-out the coppice was rustling like it was announcing a bear. Then lava-streams at which the ground is going to have the effect of a rubber on the skin. Across smooth lava-sand, giving the feeling of a huge flask. All in all a very successful month, 3000m downhill every day, there is no better way to spend the winter! Impressions

November 26th 2009 DIRT 100
The guys from DIRT Magazine think that our HERB DH frame is one of the best 100 products for next season. Read yourselv what they have to say:

"The Last Herb is one of the lesser known brands gracing the pages of this guide, but they have got it spot on with the Herb. With simple, clean lines and a suspension system that offers smooth linear travel through to mid travel and then ramps up significantly to prevent wallowing and heavy bottom out, it tracks the terrain exceptionally well. The Herb comes in at a price point that should raise a few eyebrows, as this is nothing short of a World Cup competition frameset. The frame has been slightly revised through 2009 from the earlier models with a lower bottom bracket further improving the ride of the Herb. A solid bike at a price to make people take notice."

October 12th 2009 Distribution in France
After working for several years with some of the friendliest people in the business, Alexis, Jeff and Marc from Unleaded it is a sad thing to announce that we will not be distributed by Unleaded any longer. The Unleaded crew will focus more on the smaller bikes :-). Good news is that we have a new distributor for France who will bring in our full range of products: Cyen Bicycles! Julien has been at the Roc d´Azur to introduce our new bikes to the french mountainbike scene on last week end. I wish we will have some blue sky in rainy Germany soon. Posted by JF.

October 10th, 2009 The Two Way Race Albstadt

After some weeks without riding cause of a broken rib and a squeezed toe, I visited a Downhill-Race in Albstadt (GER) this weekend. The new Bikepark in the south of Germany promised a great race cause of a new race mode. Training on Saturday and two race runs on Sunday. One race run on the Freeride track and one race run on the Downhill track. The weather forecast was not too bad. Some small rainfalls on saturday and no rain on sunday. But forecast is forecast and reality is reality...it was pissing like hell on saturday which made the track pretty scetchy, especially all the turns on the grass. I had a pretty good feeling cause usually I am good rider in wet conditions and I liked the track too. It was a lot of fun and after a ROCKBAND contest on Saturday night, we were all stoked to get back on the track on sunday. But I had huge problems in my first race run. After hugging a tree, I could not carry enough speed and my wheels collected so much grass and mud that my wheels stopped spinning due to an overload of mud and grass on my frame and my fork. I had to stop and fiddle the mud out of my frame and fork. That cost me way too much time and when I crossed the finish line, the clock said a gap of a minute to the first rider and over 30 seconds to the Top3. I knew that I could not catch up with those times if there will not have an overload of luck! But I was still hoping the best and gave all. After a pretty scetchy run, the clock said that I am the second fastest rider (3seconds behind number 1 and 20 seconds to the number 3). That was pretty good but not enough to get back into Top3. Sad but that is racing! I still had a lot of fun and great season!

It was the 17th year for the Downhill race in Tabarz. Riders from all over the world came to compete each other on the "Inselsberg".
Last-Team was there and Joerg Heydt could lead the times again in the Masters Class! He blew the class and had a gap of 4seconds to the next rider. That was a massive run and a great win for Team Last.
Mario Koch also had a good run in the Elite class, so he could make an 8th place in the semi-finals but with just some tenths of a second, he lost some places in the finals and ended with a solid 11th place!

July 26th 2009 German Downhill Championships

The best riders from Germany were fighting for the title of the German Champion last weekend! The course in Bad Wildbad (Black Forest) is technically the most challenging course in Germany and with a last sprint section of about 30 seconds also one of the physically most challenging courses.
Last Junior Kevin Setzer had a pretty good weekend on the rough track and even after a crash, he was second with just 1.4 seconds behind the winner. Congratulations to Kevin, 2nd in License Junior!
Mario Koch had a pretty solid run in his final and could finish with a 23rd place in Elite class which is a solid result after 4 weeks sitting at the desk and studying hard for his exams.

Yes, I won the European Masters Championship. My first international title ever. After Semmering and a small visit on the WC track in Maribor, the track in Kranjska Gora felt easy but fast. June 8th 2009 DH Semmering/Austria

This weekend was the 16th race in Semmering in Austria to find the hero of the Zauberberg. With a weather forecast that did not tell a lot of good things, Jörg and me, Mario, arrived in Austria on Friday and inspected the course. I was in Semmering last year and knew that this course istough! The riders need to be fit technically and physically! Friday was very sunny and with a really fast lift, we made a lot of runs to get the flow of the track. Saturday was very windy but still dry. We made the qualifying run on Saturday afternoon. We were all pretty happy because the weather was still pretty good, Jörg was on 1st position in the Masters class and I was on a solid 12th position with a smooth run. That was really good in a race with riders from 13 nations! But the weather changed saturday night and we had a lot of rain. Sunday morning was a little sunny and the course was not too bad. A little sketchy but not really wet or muddy. With just 2 possible warm-up runs, we had to wait until the first race run was. Jörg came down the track and was not really happy. He made some mistakes and was 3rd after the first run. But the best out of 2 runs counts! I also made some mistakes due to some slippy sections on the track. But with a time of 3mins and 22 seconds, I was still on 15th position in the Elite class with just a half second to the Top 10. But the weather changed again and it rained so hard that we knew, we could not improve our times in the second run! Not perfect but I think we can be pretty happy with the results! Posted by MK.

May 19th 2009 Mario Koch - Osternohe DH Race

This weekend, we had a Downhill Race in Osternohe, close to Nürnberg (Nuremberg). The Bikepark is pretty new the race track is short but it is sooooo much fun! It was the Bavarian Championships but a lot of good Racers came to have a great weekend that started with a lot of rain but ended with 28°C and a dry and really fast track! After a good but safe first run, I was on 6th position after some other fast guys like Erik Irmisch and Nino Antic. But I knew that I can go faster in the second run. But right from the beginning I had some problems in sections where it is really important to carry speed. That was the end. The bottom part of the track was fast and good but I couldn't improve my time and had almost the same time again. But the others could do a better 2nd run and after a "Best out of 2 Race Runs" Modus, I was on 10th position which I am still happy with. I know that I would have had a really good time without mistakes...But that's racing! ..Posted by MK

21st April 2009 T-Mobile Extreme Playgrounds

This week end the T-Mobile Extreme Playgrounds Dirt Session was held in Duisburg, Germany. A huge croud was attracted by the dirt competioion and the band playing at the end of the event. Maybe some of the older riders remember a band called NOFX. Hendrik tafel was lucky to be one of the 14 qualified riders for the comp, which featured riders like Paul Bas, Sam Pilgrim, Lance McDermont, Marius Hoppensack, ... Unluckily Hendrik hurt his foot before and again during the week end, so that he could not ride to the level you know of him. After missing the second round he spent some easy time hanging around with our second team rider that was involved in the event: Marius Lenders. Marius helped building the jumps and rumours were going around about the ease whith which he was riding the jumps before the comp. Hopefully we can show you some captures of this soon on this site. In the meantime you can watch the finals on Freecaster.

During the final Hendrik helped out as flash operator with great patience, thanks! Below you see the result: Marius Hoppensack clicked 360 table. Posted by JF

28th March 2009 Maxxis Cup Vigo / Spain

After getting his new ride and being absolutely happy, Mario Koch took the plane to Portugal and did some test riding and photo shoots around Porto. He combined the trip with the Maxxis Cup in Vigo / Spain to compete with the best riders from Spain and Portugal and even some World Cup Teams. He felt in love with the Herb DH and felt really good on the track. The track was very gnarly and very hard for the rider in a physical way. After being 48th of the Elite class in the qualifying, he had a flat tire in his race run and finished with a time of over 6 mins. Bad luck but the pictures are awesome and we can see that he is still in good physical shape, even with just a small winter training. Cause bicycle training at -30°C in Canada is cold!! We wish Mario good Luck for his next race in Barr around the easter weekend! Posted by JH
